Zeldox Information

Zeldox is a type of antipsychotic medicine that can be applied to correct the imbalance of certain chemicals in a patient's brain. This drug can also cure certain mental disorders. The medicine must not be administrated to patients who are older than 65 years old or less than 18 years old.

Indications

In most cases, Zeldox is applied to treat diseases such as schizophrenia and bipolar mania. Please be aware that this medication can have severe side-effects and should not be used for any other reason than that prescribed by your medical professional.

Warnings

It is very important not to prescribe Zeldox if a patient is suffering from certain allergies to any ingredients or to Ziprasidone itself. If such an individual takes this antipsychotic medication, he/she may experience hives, itching, skin rashes, shortness of breath or wheezing, swelling of the face, lips and tongue, which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing. It is also very important not to take Zeldox if you are suffering from the following conditions: a recent or history of heart attacks, uncontrolled heart failure, abnormal heart beat or any other type of disease that requires certain medicines to control it.

Intake Guidelines

Before taking Zeldox, a patient should let their doctor know if he/she suffers from any allergies to medicines or certain substances such as foods, preservatives or dyes. Usually, Zeldox is prescribed in pill form. The medicine is usually taken after main meals, twice a day. This drug cannot be effective if the patient suffers from the following disorders: irregular heartbeat, heart- or blood vessel disorders, low blood amounts of potassium or magnesium, low blood pressure or a history of seizures. Please ensure that your diet and health are otherwise fine before starting this drug treatment.

Dosage

The dose of Zeldox is usually different from one individual to another, depending on the patient's exact condition. If the patient is suffering from schizophrenia the starting dose is 40 mg, taken twice a day. The doctor can adjust the dose, depending on the severity of the disease's manifestations and can even raise it up to 80 mg in severe cases although this is not recommended. The dose must not be changed until 2 days after starting the treatment.

Overdose

Patients must be careful while taking Zeldox, because an overdose can cause certain reactions such as drowsiness, tremors and uncontrollable movements of the tongue, jaw arms or legs. If the patient takes an abnormally high dose of Zeldox, he or she must seek medical support as soon as possible in order to receive the proper emergency care. Overdosing on Zeldox can be fatal.

Missed Dose

Although cases in which patients accidentally skip a dose of Zeldox are very common, it is very important not to use two doses at one time, because this can worsen the condition, increasing the patient's risks of experiencing more severe and more complicated side effects. If such a disruption affects the patient's therapy with Zeldox, the best advice is to take the missed dose as soon as possible, before it is time for the next prescribed dose of Zeldox.

Side Effects

Zeldox can cause certain side effects which can be severe and long lasting. There are also cases in which it can be aggravated to the point of requiring medical support.     * Sedation

In case you have any questions, please contact your pharmacist or the health care provider; they will be more than happy to provide you with precise information.
